How fresh is fresh? Do you often visit a grocer thinking to yourself how old the produce is being sold? Did you know that it is normal today to harvest food before it is ripe then treat it with chemicals before it is ready to go on sale at your your supermarket? The answer to that is to purchase organic, but how do you know it is organic and how would you possibly know how fresh it is? Answer, grow your own veges, that way you know exactly how it has been grown and you will only pick when required, envision eating your produce minutes prior to it have been harvested!
Slash your food bill With steadily increasing inflation affecting the price of produce and job security decreasing would it not be pleasant to drastically slash your food cost whilst enjoying fresh, quality produce? Better quality produce for a lower cost, seems fairly obvious. A packet of seeds is inexpensive and will grow a lot of fruits and veges over time...
Protect the environment Todays farming generates significant amounts of pollution eg. chemical runoffs as well as synthetic fertilizers destroying the soil. You will not only be doing yourself some good but you will be protecting the environment and making a good example for your offspring.
Add some variety to your diet Most supermarkets will only offer a couple different variety's of each fruit or vegetable, when there are so many different variety's of each, some you may have never even heard of, so do your self a kindness and add something different to your diet!
Socialise It is beginning to get more and more popular to have local community gardens where everyone chips in and shares the result of their hard work, it is a great opportunity to make friends with some like minded people and grow your social group.
Look after your body Why eat food that is poisonous? G.M foods have been proven to have a direct link to cancer similar to preservatives, pesticides, fungicides etc. It is much better for your body and your taste buds to consume fresh organic food.Think about the health of not only you but your friends and loved ones also.

Make a difference Have you thought about this, with one less person purchasing the toxic produce corporations are selling us, that is less cash in their wallets. If consumers stopped buying then they would be forced into producing some proper food. A lot of folks dont realise it but it is the consumer that controls the market. So it is about time to take back your power and start growing your own food!
Helps you stay in shape Working in the vegetable garden can be quite physical but that is beneficial because most of us now a days are deficient proper exercise. Do not forget the clean air and sunshine (D vitamin) that you will be exposed to also..
